How Do You Activate an AARP Card?
The AARP card comes with activation instructions that the holder should follow, which vary depending on whether you purchased the card at a retailer or online. After successfully registering the temporary card, a personalized card with the applicant’s name on it is mailed to the applicant.
Before you can start using your AARP card, you must activate it and select a personal identification number. An AARP card may be purchased at a retailer or online. In both cases, you need to provide personal information for identification. You are required to provide your name, date of birth, address, telephone number and Social Security number. You must also provide the information, such as name and date of birth, for a second cardholder, such as a spouse.
If you bought your card at a retailer, follow the instructions on the card to register it. If you signed up your card online, your Social Security number is used to validate your card. After successfully registering your card, you receive a personalized card with instructions for activation. Follow the instructions that come with the card, and choose a PIN. Once you have successfully activated your card, funds on the temporary card are transferred automatically to your personalized card. The temporary card then becomes invalid, and you may throw it away.
