What Is a 3.5 GPA in a Letter Grade?

Texas A&M University/CC-BY 2.0

A 3.5 grade point average, or GPA, equals an A in letter grades. The GPA is a measurement of academic achievement at an educational institution.

There are various GPA calculators available online. However, to get an accurate estimate, it is best to use the GPA calculator provided by the school attended because the letter grade to grade point ratio varies from place to place.

To calculate a GPA, figure out what the school’s letter grades equal in grade points. Then total the grade points received for each course during a semester, and divide that sum by the total number of courses taken that semester.
