LAN cables are a specific type of data cable used in computer networking. There are two different types of local area network cables. The first is a standard cable that connects a computer to a router or hub, and the second is called a crossover cable, connecting two computers together.
LAN cables can be purchased at most electronics stores and come in a variety of lengths. By using specific tools, network users can produce their own cables with varying lengths. While there are different wiring standards for LAN cables, like Category 5 and Category 6, they all basically work the same way.
