Input, process, output (IPO), is described as putting information into the system, doing something with the information and then displaying the results. IPO is a computer model that all processes in a computer must follow.

IPO is often called IPOS or input, process, output, storage. Storage is where the data is kept once the computer is turned off. An example of IPO can be given with a toaster; the input is a slice of bread, the process is heating and the output is toast. A simple computer IPO example is; pressing keys on a keyboard is the input, the process is making words and the output is displaying words or symbols, or printing them.
