One 12-ounce can of Coca-Cola contains 39 grams of sugar, which converts to approximately 2.6 tablespoons. Cherry Coke and Vanilla Coke both contain more sugar than the regular variety; both of these sodas contain 42 grams of sugar, or 2.8 tablespoons, per 12-ounce can.

The World Health Organization guidelines for sugar intake state that an adult should not consume more than 25 grams of sugar per day. This is significantly less than the amount of sugar in even one can of Coca-Cola. Diet Coke and Coke Zero contain no sugar and are a viable sugar-free options for people who do not have sensitivities to artificial sweeteners.
