How Many Brothers Did Goliath Have?
Different biblical interpretations disagree on the number of brothers Goliath had, although there is proof he did have one brother named Lahmi. In 1 Chronicles, the Bible states that Lahmi, the brother of Goliath, was killed by Elhanan. Other mentions of giants related to Goliath leave critics questioning whether the giants are brothers or sons of Goliath.
The other three giants, Ishbibenob, Saph and an unnamed giant with six fingers and toes, are understood by some to be the brothers of Goliath. Some believe these giants were born of the giant of Gath, making all of them siblings.
Other scholars argue that these giants are sons of Goliath and not his brothers. A popular interpretation of the story of David and Goliath is that David picked up five stones, one for Goliath and his four brothers, though some would argue that it was really his four sons.
