A whale shark is not bigger than a blue whale. They both, however, hold “world’s largest” distinctions. The whale shark is the largest living fish, while the blue whale is the largest living animal.

According to National Geographic, the average weight of a whale shark is 20.6 tons. The length of a whale shark ranges from 18 to 32.8 feet. In comparison, the average weight of a blue whale is close to 200 tons. In addition, the length of a blue whale ranges from 82 to 105 feet. This makes the blue whale the clear winner, in both weight and length.
