A male or female toy poodle is full-grown when it reaches the height of about 10 inches at the shoulder. Its adult weight is between 4 pounds and 8 pounds.
Toy poodles are people-oriented and make excellent pets, as they are devoted family dogs. Some are shy around strangers, while others bark excessively. Toy poodles are high-energy, smart and playful dogs that respond well to training. They thrive when given significant amounts of exercise and human attention. The coat of a toy poodle is thick, curly and coarse. It needs to be brushed on alternate days to avoid matting. The fur around the dog's face and feet needs to be cut back monthly, while all-over grooming is typically done every three months.
