Kangaroos make a variety of sounds, including hissing, grunting and coughing, and females may make a clicking sound when communicating with joeys. Kangaroos make noises when warning others about predators or if they sense danger. They also stomp their feet to warn other kangaroos that something is wrong.
Mother kangaroos make a clucking sound when calling out to their babies. This noise is only heard from female kangaroos. Kangaroos are very social and exhibit signs of kicking and punching when introduced to new kangaroos. While it may seem violent to an onlooker, it's actually a form of creating a friendship bond.
