Geese most commonly make a sound that sounds like a honk or hink depending on whether or not the call is coming from a male or female goose. They can be found throughout North America, especially Canada and the United States.

Geese honk and hink for a number of reasons with the main reason being when they great each other. This is usually done by loud repeated honking between two geese that belong to the same family. Honking is also used to threaten or scare away other birds and predators while also serving as a way of communication during mating season.
