The Chihuahua breed is very good for families, but children need to be gentle and patient with them. Chihuahuas are petite dogs and do well in apartments because they require very little exercise. They do require indoor living since they can be very sensitive to cold temperatures. Chihuahuas, even the long-haired breeds, require very little grooming.
