How Many Puppies Can a Pit Bull Have in One Litter?

Most pit bulls have litters of seven to 10 pups. A female pit bull may have a litter ranging from two to 12 pups, depending on her health and size. Additionally, the size of the litter usually depends on whether it is her first litter or a later litter.

A female pit bull’s first litter is usually the smallest and often produces only two to five pups. Later litters are usually, but not always, much larger. Litter size also decreases with age, typically starting around age 5. The dog’s diet before and during pregnancy can also affect the size and health of her litter.
