A lion’s natural habitat is found in grasslands, open woodlands, and scrub. They typically come from Tanzania, South Sudan, Angola, Mozambique, and Botswana. Lions often wander around a large territory of 100 square miles.

Lions are between 4.5 and 6.5 feet long with a tail of 26.25 to 39.5 inches. They can weigh up to 420 pounds. Male lions are usually larger in size and weight than female lions. The males have a thick mane around their heads to distinguish them from the females. This makes them intimidating to other males and impresses the female lions. The mane also protects the male’s neck during a fight.
