A lemon Basset Hound is a dog of the Basset Hound breed with blond fur. “Lemon” is a color term used in dog breeding to denote a particular kind of yellow.
All Basset Hounds have some white spotting, usually on the paws, chest, neck and the tip of the tail, so lemon-colored Basset Hounds are also referred to as lemon and white. However, unlike most other dogs of this breed, lemon Basset Hounds have no black hairs. The same recessive gene is the cause of Basset Hounds having either a lemon or a red coat, although the genetic process that results in the lemon Basset Hound’s diluted coloration is not fully known.
