Lavender works as a natural repellent for scorpions. Scorpions are sensitive to lavender’s strong aroma and tend to avoid areas where it is present. Planting lavender plants around the perimeters of structures is a helpful way to keep scorpions away.
Scorpions are typically drawn to septic systems and tend to circle drainage areas. The best way to deter scorpions away from a septic system is to pour lavender-scented bleach or pure lavender oil down the drain. Scorpions are also repelled by citrus fragrances and will typically retreat back to a safe area if they come across a citrus plant or drainage system that has been treated with citrus-scented bleach or orange oil.
