Examples of grooming cuts for the goldendoodle include the puppy cut, the summer cut and the lion cut. The type of coat, the climate and the dog’s lifestyle typically dictate the most appropriate grooming cut. Goldendoodles can have coats in wavy, curly or flat varieties.
The summer cut is a short, uniform style that keeps long-haired dogs such as the goldendoodle cool in the warmer months. The puppy cut is a popular look that is slightly longer than the summer cut and typically between 1 and 2 inches in length. To achieve a lion cut, the hair on the head and neck of the dog are left untouched while the body hair is clipped to a length of 1/2 inch or less.
