Can Goats Swim?
Last Updated Apr 15, 2020 8:21:05 PM ET
Goats can swim but whether or not they actually enjoy it or will do it willingly depends on the breed and personality of the goat. Most goats will only swim if they absolutely have to.
Goats that are from arid regions, such as feral goats in Australia and the Nubian breed, are known to particularly dislike getting wet and may be the goats that are the least likely to swim; these goats will often take shelter in just a light rain. Like most animal species, however, goats can swim if necessary and are proficient paddlers. Reports exist of feral goats in Australia swimming voluntary in search of fresh water.
