Pembroke Welsh Corgis and Dachshunds are two breeds of dogs that have long bodies and short legs. Both of these breeds are lively and extremely active.
Corgis were bred to be herding dogs. The backs of Corgis are not longer than other dogs; their legs are simply very short in comparison. Dachshunds are known for their long and low bodies. Their body shape makes them excellent hunters above and below ground. The breed comes in a miniature variety and three different coat varieties: smooth, wire-haired and long-haired. Dachshunds were originally bred in Germany to be a fearless dog that dug into the earth through badger burrows.
