How Big Do Lions Get?

An adult male lion will grow up to be between 330 and 550 pounds, with a length between 5’7” and 8’2”. A female lion will grow to be 264 to 400 pounds, with a length between 4’7″ and 5’9″.

Lions are the tallest of the big cats, as they grow to roughly five and a half feet tall. However, in terms of their average length and weight, lions are the second largest in size to tigers among the big cats. There are eight different subspecies of lions, with seven of them being found on the African continent. The lone exception is the Asiatic lion, which is only found in Asia.
