What Animals Prey on Red Pandas?

Fully grown red pandas are preyed on by clouded leopards and snow leopards, while smaller red panda cubs are hunted by hawks, owls and other birds. The main predators of red pandas are humans, which sometimes still hunt red pandas for their skins and furs, but also threaten their existence through the destruction of their habitats.

Unlike many other animals, red pandas do not have many predators since they spend much of their life in trees, leaving them out of reach from potential threats on the ground. Red pandas are solitary creatures that do not commonly associate with one another, except during mating season. However, they do sometimes come in contact with one another and will communicate by using specific calls.
