How Do You Stucco a Cinder Block Wall?
To stucco a cinder block wall, apply a concrete bonding agent, apply scratch layer of stucco and then add a finishing coat of stucco, allowing 36 to 48 hours for curing between each layer. While the stucco is drying, mist the surface periodically to keep it moist during the hardening period.
To apply stucco to an existing cinder block wall:
- Prepare the wall
- Apply the stucco
- Apply the finishing coat
Brush a concrete bonding agent to the concrete and allow it to completely dry.
Apply one-quarter inch of stucco and allow to slightly harden, misting periodically to keep surface moist. When this first coating is slightly hardened, scratch to a one-eighth inch layer and allow to dry for 36 to 48 hours.
Once the first coat is fully dry, apply the finishing coat. This top coat can be up to one-quarter inch in thickness and can be finished to desired texture. Misting periodically, allow to dry for 36 to 48 hours.
