Wash the marble with a damp cloth, and dry the area thoroughly. Inspect the area for water marks.
Mix baking soda and water together to form a thick paste. Apply the paste to the water marks with a soft cloth. Cover the paste with plastic wrap, and allow it to sit for 24 hours.
Remove the plastic wrap, and rinse off the baking soda. Dry the area with a soft cloth, and inspect the area for any remaining marks. Take note of areas that require further treatment.
Using steel wool, scrub the remaining water marks in a circular motion. Rinse and dry the area frequently to examine the progress being made. Once the marks are gone, rinse the area with water, and use a soft cloth to dry it. Maintain the surface by cleaning up any spills as soon as they occur.
