Pamprin is typically used to treat symptoms related to a woman’s menstrual cycle, including bloating, cramps, headache and fatigue, according to DailyMed. While this is its primary marketed use, men can safely take the drug and experience the same symptom relief and side effects.

Pamprin claims to relieve pain associated with premenstrual syndrome, which is a series of physical ailments many women experience in the days leading up to their menstruation. The drug does not target these symptoms alone and can relieve any type of mild pain due to its combination of aspirin and acetaminophen.

People who drink alcohol or smoke have an increased risk of stomach bleeding when they take Pamprin. Reye’s syndrome is another serious potential side effect exists for young people who have chicken pox or flu symptoms while taking this medication. People who have aspirin-sensitive asthma, anemia, blood clots, ulcers, liver disease, anxiety, heart disease or high blood pressure need to consult a doctor before taking Pamprin.
