How Do You Write an Eagle Scout Recommendation Letter?

Rennett Stowe/CC-BY 2.0

An Eagle Scout recommendation letter is written in the same way as many other recommendation letters. It provides details about the potential Eagle Scout from a personal and professional point of view.

The letter typically includes a list of encouraging words about the scout, along with any achievements that have been received throughout the scout’s Boy Scouting career. The recommendation letter may also include any volunteer work or completed projects performed by the scout. The writer of the letter should also write about all of the merit badges that the scout has earned as well as why the writer believes the scout should be honored with the Eagle Scout ranking.
