Wal-Mart Vision Centers are not on the list of in-network providers covered by VSP insurance plans. Most Optical Centers, including Wal-Mart, accept out-of-network insurance at a greater cost, according to VSP. In the event a customer uses an out-of-network provider, VSP sometimes reimburses the consumer.
According to VSP, not all plans include out-of-network coverage. Customers should check each plan on the Benefits and Claims section of VSP.com for details. If the plan does include out-of-network benefits, the full cost of the exam must be paid upfront by the patient, and VSP reimburses the customer at a later date. Customers must file claims within12 months of the visit, according to VSP.
