What Vision Coverage Does MassHealth Provide?
MassHealth provides vision benefits, such as exams, free eyeglasses and contact lenses, to all eligible health plan members. This excludes only members of MassHealth Essential.
MassHealth covers vision care services for eligible members of all ages. The requirement of being age 21 and under is no longer in effect. Some of these services include examinations; ophthalmic materials, including but not limited to complete eyeglasses or eyeglass parts; labor in the dispensation of those materials; some contact lenses; and other visual aids, including magnifiers. An individual who is unsure of his membership type can look on his Network Health membership ID card for clarification under the Plan Type header. MassHealth Essential members who use the managed care provider Network Health Together are eligible for discounted eyeglass frames and lenses as well as a $30 reimbursement on plastic lenses.
