What Types of Jobs Are Common in Iran?

As of 2015, the most common jobs in Iran are in the oil and gas industry. The industry is the largest contributor to Iran’s gross domestic product. Other common jobs are in the medical, business and service sectors.

According to Word Bank statistics for 2014, Iran is one of the largest economies in the Middle East. Many citizens and foreigners are employed in the oil and gas production industry, owing to the ever-increasing demand for petroleum products in the global market. Jobs in this sector include oil drilling, processing, packaging and distribution. The exportation of oil and gas products is also a major job provider.

The business and services sector in Iran have grown rapidly over the first decades of the 21st century, accompanied by a rapid development of the financial sector. In this regard, banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions provide jobs for many people in Iran. The medical services sector has also experienced growth due to technological advancement in the country, leading to great demand for medical personnel in Iraq. Cosmetic surgery is another field that has developed greatly. According to the Daily Mail, Iran is now famous as the hub of nose jobs and other forms of plastic surgery in the Middle East.
