A job seeker may target the positions of a general manager, senior manager or supervisor at a company. A general manager is superior to a senior manager, and a senior manager is superior to a supervisor. The positions call for skills and qualifications in management, and strategic and financial planning.
A general manager manages staff and formulates and accomplishes business goals to make profit. A senior manager oversees and directs the work of a group of staff in a big organization. A supervisor is put in charge of a specific department or area of operation, such as production. A production supervisor oversees product manufacturing by directing workflow, and organizing and monitoring staff.
