Task interdependence sets rules and guidelines for the sharing of expertise, materials and information between members of an organization working on interdependent tasks. The goal of task interdependence is alleviating issues that arise when multiple tasks overlap and have the potential for conflict.
Task interdependence should follow a structure that lays out the task and the roles, responsibilities and specific duties of each team member. The team must establish a clear chain of supervision and specific guidelines for when and how information and resources are shared. There should also be a clear determination of how reports are created, who creates them and how they are submitted.
