What Is Swinton Avenue Trading?

Swinton Avenue Trading Limited is a subsidiary of Office Depot that is incorporated in Delaware and has a Boca Raton, Florida mailing address. The company imports office furniture for Office Depot, including desks and chairs.

As of 2014, some of Swinton Avenue Trading’s products sold through Office Depot are the Realspace and Sauder lines of desks, libraries and organizers.

The company made news in May 2014 when its line of Gibson Leather Task Chairs was recalled by Office Depot. The chairs, which were manufactured by several companies in China, had a defect that could cause the mounting plate weld to break and separate the seat from the chair. About 1,400,000 of these chairs were sent to Office Depot stores between 2003 to 2012, and the recall came after 153 reports of seat weld cracks or breaks. Twenty-five of these reports described injuries incurred when the chair broke, one of which necessitated medical assistance. Consumers are able to return these chairs to Office Depot locations to receive a $55 credit. The chair was similar in design to another product imported by Swinton, the Biella Office Chair. This chair had a similar design flaw and was recalled much sooner than the Gibson chair was.
