What Is the Role of Marketing in an Organization?

The employees in the marketing department of an organization are responsible for communicating to customers or clients why they need to purchase the goods or services offered. Marketing relays information to customers or clients and helps establish the overall image of the brand.

One of the marketing department’s biggest jobs is advertising. It comes up with ideas for commercials, billboards, print ads and other advertisements to inform potential customers about the product and its benefits. Once a customer learns about the company, it is the job of the marketing department to ensure that the company receives repeat business from this customer through solidifying the brand image.

Packaging and shipping also fall under the realm of marketing. The packaging of a product helps tell customers about the product inside, and shipping packaging reinforces the brand image to customers so that they remember to return to the company with repeat business.

Sales is another large aspect of the marketing department in a company. The marketing department works with the sales teams to come up with sales tactics and strategies that entice customers and clients to purchase goods and services. It also comes up with incentives for the sales department to use to turn first-time customers into loyal customers.
