A redemption code is a special code found on a product that gives the buyer certain access to the product, such as when purchasing software or online academic products. A redemption code may also entitle the buyer to a special sale or offer.
There are different types of redemption codes. Some are like coupons, while others are keys, similar to registration codes. For example, when purchasing Adobe products, the consumer is provided with a redemption code that when redeemed gives the user access to a serial number to insure the validity of the product. There are also redemption codes for sites, such as eBay, that offer a prospective buyer a certain percentage off of a purchase.
