POG is an acronym for planogram. A planogram is a detailed diagram that shows where and how employees should place products on retail shelves and display areas.
Planograms, or POGs, are useful to retailers because they increase customer purchases. Past and current sales patterns allow planogrammers to recommend how many products should be visible to the customer at a time, how high or how low the product should sit on shelving units and what related products should be on display nearby. Planograms help encourage customer purchases of multiple related items when these items are all displayed in a single area or section of the store.
