Money orders do not typically have an expiration date. However, a non-refundable service charge is deducted from the principal amount if the money order is not used within 1 to 3 years of the purchase date.
If a money order purchased from Moneygram is not used or cashed within a specified time period that is printed on the front of the money order, a non-refundable service charge will be deducted from the total amount, if permitted by law.
A Western Union money order must be used or cashed within 1 to 3 years of the purchase date, or else it will be returned unpaid. The service charge conditions are described on the back side of the money order.
