As little as one stamp is required to mail a DVD without a case. If a case or other packaging material is included in the mailer, the price rises.
A DVD weighs less than 1 ounce, so only one first-class postage stamp is required to mail it. As of 2014, a first-class postage stamp costs 49 cents. If any rigid material is added to the mailer, a surcharge of 20 cents may apply. A DVD jewel case weighs between 1.5 and 2.5 ounces without printed material added, and a traditional DVD case weighs between 2.37 and 2.62 ounces. As of 2014, an additional 21 cents in postage is needed for each ounce over the first ounce.
