A manufacturing certificate of compliance is a certified document issued by a competent authority, stating that the supplied goods and services meet their required specifications. It can also be called a certificate of conformance or a certificate of conformity.
A competent authority is a person or an organization that has the legally delegated authority and the capacity to perform a designated function. For instance, the Alabama Department of Revenue, as the competent authority, can issue certificates of compliance for manufacturers to confirm that they are up to date with all tax fillings required by the state and have no liabilities for state taxes.
