How Long Does Regular Mail Take?

Delivery of regular mail, also called Standard Post by the USPS, takes 2 to 8 business days, depending on location and availability of transportation. The service is only available for shipments 70 pounds or lighter, with a combined length and girth of 130 inches.

The service costs at least $5.60 or more, depending on the size of the package and the distance of the destination. It is available on a retail basis only. Sending a shipment through Standard Post is ideal for deliveries that are not very urgent or are too large for Priority Mail delivery services.

Packages sent through Standard Post can be tracked through the USPS online tracking facility at USPS.com. To check on the status of a delivery, click on USPS Tracking, and type in the Label ID or Tracking Number in the next screen.

Customer’s can also call USPS’ customer service number 1-800-222-1811 to receive an automated update on the status of their delivery, any time of the day, any day of the week. Live customer service representatives are available to answer from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Mondays through Fridays, and 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Their live customer service lines are closed on Sundays and holidays.
