How Long Does It Take for Airmail to Arrive From England?
According to the Royal Mail website, International Standard mail, formerly Airmail, is delivered from the United Kingdom to countries in Europe within three to five working days, and worldwide within five to seven working days. The Royal Mail offers four different services for international mail.
The Royal Mail of the United Kingdom offers International Standard service, which has no tracking or signature on delivery. Standard service offers a £20 compensation for damaged or lost packages. The Royal Mail also offers a signature upon delivery service and a tracking service, which monitors the locations of packages. Both services include up to £50 compensation for contents. These additional services do not alter the expected delivery time. A lower cost option is available for international mailing under the Royal Mail’s International Economy option. This option is intended for larger items or when there is no rush for delivery.
For an additional mailing fee, Royal Mail offers increased insurance of up to £250 for more valuable packages. Royal Mail ensures free returns on undelivered items if a United Kingdom return address is provided.
A customs declaration must be filled out for each item being mailed outside of the European Union. Royal Mail also suggests checking weight and size restrictions as well as tariffs for the country to which the package is being sent to avoid delays.
