All of Pilot's ballpoint pens feature indelible ink, as do the Pentel HyperG gel pens and many uni-ball pens. In 2013, the Wirecutter, a popular expert review site, ranked the uni-ball Jetstream as the best non-fountain pen due to its smooth writing, indelibility and ink flow.
To determine if a pen uses indelible ink, visit the manufacturer's or retailer's website. Indelible ink cannot be removed once it is used. For this reason, many individuals prefer to use pens with indelible ink to ensure the security of written checks and any archival documents. Most indelible inks dry quickly to avoid smudging or streaking, which can result in a short shelf life if the pen isn't retracted or is left in the open air.
