What Are Some Facts About the Gott Corporation in Winfield, Kansas?

H.P. Gott founded the Gott Corporation (also known as Gott Manufacturing Co) and established the Winfield plant in 1916 to produce metal water coolers. With the introduction of plastic components in the 1960s, Gott adapted its product line and facilities to produce “all plastic” water coolers. Rubbermaid acquired Gott Manufacturing in 1986 and has continued the tradition of outstanding product quality and innovation.

The Winfield facility currently manufactures Rubbermaid outdoor storage and outdoor living products, in addition to insulated water coolers and ice chests, as of 2015.

In 2012, Rubbermaid made a $26.6 million investment to improve and expand its Winfield facility. This investment is intended to increase the company’s capacity to manufacture Rubbermaid outdoor refuse and home organization products. These funds were also used for the construction of a 500,000-square-foot distribution center. In line with this investment, Rubbermaid moved about 200 jobs from Texas to Kansas in 2012 to support these increased responsibilities.

In 2015, Rubbermaid announced a further expansion of the Winfield facility, including a $27 million investment and 320 new jobs. This expansion included increased manufacturing of popular Rubbermaid food storage products and the addition of the manufacture and distribution of select Rubbermaid Commercial Products solutions.

Both Gott Corporation and Rubbermaid were integral to the growth and development of the Winfield community.
