General Electric employees receive an average 20 percent discount on GE appliances, such as washers, dryers, air conditioners and refrigerators, in addition to discounts on a wide array of other GE and Hotpoint products. GE employees and retirees can purchase discounted GE products through the company’s online employee store.
Employees also have access to discounted rates for automobile insurance, personal liability insurance and home insurance when they purchase policies through General Electric’s Electric Insurance Company, which exclusively serves GE employees. Employees can pay premiums to The Electric Insurance Company through payroll deductions, which qualifies them for an additional 2 to 4 percent discount on their premiums.
The Electric Insurance Company offers multi-policy discounts. In many states, the automobile insurance policies come with automatic new vehicle replacement coverage at no additional cost. The Electric Insurance Company also offers catastrophe warnings to policyholders that notifies them when a hurricane, tornado or wildfire is in their area. Emergency roadside assistance, identity fraud expense recovery, and identity restoration services are also provided.
In addition to employee discounts, GE offers its workforce health and dental insurance, a retirement plan that vests in three years, a 401(K) plan with a 50 percent company matching contribution up to 8 percent of pay. It also offers tuition reimbursement.
