What Is Gatorade’s Mission Statement?
Gatorade is owned by PepsiCo, whose mission is to be “the world’s premier consumer products company focused on convenient foods and beverages,” as well as to provide opportunities for employee, business partner, and community growth and enrichment. The company also strives for “honesty, fairness and integrity” in everything they do.
Gatorade is a company that produces and sells food and beverage items marketed toward athletes and sports lovers. The company first started when the beverage “Gatorade” was created in 1965 to aid the Florida Gators university football team by providing them with a beverage that replenished their electrolytes and carbohydrates. The researchers who created the product thought that water alone was not hydrating the student-athletes enough, and aimed to create a super-hydrating beverage. Gatorade was one of the first popular sports-drink products, which now is a large industry.
Since its creation, Gatorade has grown tremendously and was bought by parent company PepsiCo. The company now sells a wide variety of beverages and food items that are geared to help athletes before, during, and after a workout, performance or competition. Gatorade sponsors many different sports leagues such as the NFL, NBA, MLB and Major League Soccer.
