What Are Some Examples of Professional Designations?
Project Management Professional, Accredited Tax Preparer and Executive Engineer are some examples of professional designations. Each corresponds to a profession and the governing agency that issues the designation.
The United States and many of its territories universally recognize some professional designations, such as the CPA, or Certified Public Accountant, which the American Institute of CPAs issues to qualifying candidates.
The National Society of Professional Engineers issues the Professional Engineer designation, whereas the American Council of Engineering Companies issues several of its own, such as the Management Engineer, which requires a PE license, and the Management Professional, which is for non-PE professionals.
Other universal professional designations include Registered Architect, Structural Engineer and Notary Public.
