The United States Department of Agriculture, or USDA, provides loans to homeowners and business owners in rural areas. Eligibility is based on the property address. USDA Rural Development Guaranteed Housing Loans can be used to purchase, build and renovate a home, and 100% financing is available. Borrower’s must be credit worthy and meet income restrictions based on the county where the property is located. Applicants may have an income of up to 115% of the median in the county. Financing is available for single-family and multi-family properties. Funds cannot be used to purchase investment property, and final determination of property eligibility is made upon receipt of a complete application.
USDA Rural Development offers more than 50 programs to businesses, nonprofits and cooperatives that serve rural communities. Business and Industry Loan Guarantees allows lenders to extend more credit than they normally would be able to; community and nonprofit programs and services assist health care and labor organizations, and programs and services for tribes provide loans and grants to help Native American homeowners and businesses.
