What Does "delivery Exception" Mean in FedEx Tracking?
Last Updated Apr 7, 2020 1:55:10 AM ET

A delivery exception occurs when there is a package that is temporarily delayed in transit. According to the FedEx website, this does not necessarily mean that the package is certain to arrive late. The company claims to make every effort possible to ensure that packages reach their destinations right on time.
A delivery exception code obtained through the FedEx shipping website reveals the exact location of a package at that very moment. Possible reasons for delivery exceptions include inclement weather and backed-up deliveries during the busy holiday season. If a package is not delivered on time, FedEx refunds the purchase.
