Samsung electronics is the flagship company for the corporation, which was founded in 1938. In 1970, the company began manufacturing black-and-white television models under the Sanyo name. It was the company's first foray into electronics. In the 1970s, the company also began manufacturing color televisions, household appliances and microwave ovens. In the 1980s, it continued to develop its technology divisions and, in the early 1990s, developed its first mobile phones. By the turn of the 21st century, the company had formed an aerospace industry along with Korean corporate giants Daewoo and Hyundai.
