What Do the Codes on a Walmart Receipt Mean?
Important codes for consumers on Walmart receipts are the receipt number, the store code and the ID number. The receipt number is above the bar code at the bottom of the receipt. It is necessary to save receipts digitally to use Walmart’s Savings Catcher.
For those who save their purchase information digitally, the receipt number, or TC code, is available to enter into the Walmart app. With that number, the consumer can store his receipt information online and can take advantage of Walmart’s Savings Catcher feature, which compares prices to other retailers and refunds the difference. In case of a return, the paper receipt is not necessary, as all the information on the receipt is available with that number.
Customers can participate in a survey about their shopping experiences if invited at the top of their receipts. In exchange for doing so, Walmart gives away shopping cards on a periodic basis. The survey application requires an ID number, which is available in the invitation at the top of the receipt. The store number is necessary as well, and it appears directly above the item listing.
