The Transportation Worker Identification Card cannot be renewed online. Applicants must appear in person at an enrollment center to renew their cards, and they must provide documentation that proves citizenship.
Applicants may renew their TWIC cards at any time prior to the expiration of their current cards. The TSA recommends applying for a new card at least 10 weeks before the current card expires.
The TWIC card is an identification card that is required for certain employees working on marine vessels that are subject to the federal Maritime Transportation Security Act. A TWIC card contains the owner’s name, photo, two fingerprints and the expiration date, and it is valid for five years.
