Unofficial merit badge worksheets are available for free at meritbadge.org. However, the Boy Scouts of America discourages the use of such worksheets. A list of current merit badges and their requirements is available at Scouting.org.

Merit badges are designed to give Boy Scouts the opportunity to expose themselves to a variety of useful skills. As of 2015, more than 100 merit badges are available, with new badges added periodically. Recent additions to merit badges include computer programming and game design. The Boy Scouts of America, which was incorporated in 1910, stresses the development of honesty, trustworthiness, kindness and other moral values in young people.
