How Do I Work Out the Measurements of a Room in Square Meters?
Last Updated Apr 14, 2020 6:16:42 PM ET

To find the measurement of a room in square meters, first measure the length and width of the room in meters. Then multiply those results together; the answer is the area of the room in square meters.
For example, if a room is 4 meters wide and 5 meters long, the area of the room is 20 square meters. This measurement is often needed to determine the amount of floor covering that is needed. When the area of a room is known, an estimate of the cost of the floor covering is also possible. Multiply the carpet cost per meter by the area of the room. For instance, if carpet is $30 per square meter, covering a 20-square-meter floor costs approximately $600.
